Information about Allergens

You can find a full list of ingredients and allergy information on the product page for each of our products. All our products are packaged with full ingredients information on them. All relevant allergens are highlighted in bold for each product.

We maintain rigorous segregation and sanitation practices when making all our products but please be aware that we do craft all our chocolates in our chocolate kitchen (& bakery items in our separate bakery) by hand. We do not have separate rooms to make all our non-dairy or no-nut etc products in, so we cannot give 100% guarantees of being 100% free-from any particular allergen.

Milk and dairy products

For items that contain milk and dairy products, it is flagged on their product page and on their ingredients list. For our product ranges which do not contain milk and dairy products, they are marked with 'handmade in our Dorset chocolate kitchen where dairy is also handled so may contain traces', as we are unable to 100% guarantee that they will not contain traces.

Soya

We are very proud that nearly all the chocolate we work with is soya-free, including our signature 47% milk, 43% oat m!lk, 72% dark and blonde chocolate grades. However, our white chocolate, gold chocolate (which are in the process of being replaced by blonde chocolate), 58% dark chocolate (as used for a few items mostly in our bakery), and chocolate covered coffee beans do still contain soya lecithin. For items that contain soya lecithin, it is flagged on their product page and on their ingredients list. Products which do not contain soya are marked with 'handmade in our Dorset chocolate kitchen where soya is also handled so may contain traces', as we are unable to 100% guarantee that they will not contain traces.

Gluten

Many of our bakery items are made with cereals which contain gluten but are made in a separate bakery room to our chocolate kitchen. We only make a few chocolates with ingredients which contain gluten (mainly our plant based caramels), and this is flagged both on their product page and on their ingredients list. Most of our chocolates do not contain gluten in their recipes but are marked with 'handmade in our Dorset chocolate kitchen where gluten is also handled so may contain traces' on their packaging, as we are unable to 100% guarantee that they will not contain traces.

Tree nuts

We work with a variety of different nuts - hazelnuts, cashews, almonds, pecans and pistachios - in either solid or nut butter form. Products which do not contain nuts are marked with 'handmade in our Dorset chocolate kitchen where nuts are also handled so may contain traces', as we are unable to 100% guarantee that they will not contain traces.

Peanuts

Though none of our products directly contain peanuts, some of our ingredients (mostly our dried fruits, nuts, seeds and spices) are sourced from factories which also handle peanuts. For products containing those ingredients we are unable to 100% guarantee they won't contain traces and we are in the process of adding subsidiary trace allergen risk warnings on the relevant products on our packaging.

Egg

The only chocolates we work with that contains egg are those containing a cooked fruit curd. In these instances, the curds are supplied to us by a local preserves company. Our bakery which makes everything for our chocolate house cafes & our postal brownies, is in a separate room to our chocolate kitchen at our Holton Heath HQ, so there is no cooking involving eggs in our chocolate making room.

Sulphur Dioxide (Sulphites)

We do not use any dried fruits that contain sulphites and only work with two alcohols that contain sulphites (tawny port and pedro ximinez sherry) which are used to make just two chocolates, both of which are seasonal winter flavours only. We flag that these alcohols contain sulphites on their ingredients list. However some of our nuts are sourced from factories which also handle sulphites, so for products containing these ingredients, we are unable to 100% guarantee that they wont contain traces and we are in the process of adding subsidiary trace allergen risk warnings to the relevant products on our packaging.

Sesame

Though none of our products directly contain sesame, some of our dried fruits, nuts, seeds and spices are sourced from factories that also handle sesame. For products containing those ingredients we are unable to 100% guarantee they won't contain traces and we are in the process of adding subsidiary trace allergen risk warnings on the relevant products on our packaging.

Other Allergens

We do not use products, or purchase products from suppliers, that contain, fish, crustaceans, molluscs or lupin.
