Yes that was Claire on Radio 4's 'You & Yours' programme on Monday!

If you listen to the consumer affairs programme 'You & Yours' on Radio 4 on weekdays from noon to 1pm, you would have heard our co-founder Claire talking to presenter Winifred Robinson (at about 12.45pm) about why some chocolates have got smaller in size, or up in price or taste different. Not ours though!

Claire explained the causes of the recent cocoa price shock being driven the poor harvests in West Africa, especially in the Ivory Coast & Ghana which account for 60% of world cocoa production, and how some companies have reacted by changing recipes to reduce the amount of cocoa in their products or have made the call to make their products smaller...known as 'shrinkflation'.

Winifred also challenged Claire on the higher price of our chocolate so she explained the difference between fine and industrial chocolate and the importance of ensuring cocoa farmers are paid a fair living wage for their cocoa - and that we all have to stop thinking of chocolate as an always available cheap food, as it will get increasingly precious over time!

If you want to listen to Claire, click on this link to BBC Sounds and tune in at around 12.45pm - happy listening!
