We have won another 4 medals in this year's International Chocolate Awards (British craft chocolatier competition)
We were delighted to win a clean sweep this year with all 4 of our entries in the British Craft Chocolatier Competition round of the International Chocolate Awards winning a gong. This takes our total number of awards won to date to 112, all proudly handcrafted here in Dorset.
The International Chocolate Awards are rigorouly judged by a panel of chocolate experts and all entries are judged blind (like the Great Taste Awards) which is hugely important to avoid any brand bias. Our results were posted with the results from the other European competitons and we understand that our winners will be eligible to be entered into the World Finals later this year - we will probably enter the Molasses & Brown Butter Caramel as it is a Gold Winner!
To celebrate these latest results, we have curated a special selection box, the 2022 International Chocolate Award Winners Box containing 4 of each of these latest winners for you to enjoy.
The Molasses & Brown Butter Caramel was created by our development chocolatier Tim for Christmas last year and has been hugely popular with our customers, so we were very pleased to see it win Gold in these awards. It also won a Special Award for our interpretation of a classic caramel chocolate. We handcraft the caramel here at Chococo, browning the butter by hand before mixing with muscovado sugar, local fresh Dorset cream from Craig's Farm Dairy near Weymouth and black treacle. The resulting rich buttery caramel is just delicious! This chocolate is also available in a box of 9 on its own.
We launched the Mango & Passionfruit chocolate for Valentine's Day earlier this year but was so popular that we decided to bring it back for the summer and we are very glad we did, as it has also now won a Silver! This 45% Venezuela origin milk chocolate dome reveals layers of fabulous flavours inside - a fresh passionfruit curd, made for us by Susan of the Alweston Jam & Chutney Empire in North Dorset, sits on top of a gently sumac-spiced fresh Dorset cream & white chocolate ganache blended with pure mango puree. The aromatic, bright, refreshing flavours will transport you to a tropical island in no time! This chocolate is also available in a box of 9.
Our Rhubarb & Vanilla chocolate has been an annual favourite with our customers for many years and last won an award back in 2012, so we decided it was high time to see if it was still award-worthy, some 10 years later and we were chuffed to see that the International Chocolates Awards judges thought that it is. We love it when one of our handcrafted chocolates wins an award again years after it first won as it shows us that we are maintaining our standards and still making chocolates which are not only popular with our customers but are deemed special enough for a gong by the experts. As we like to say, our chocolates are 'officially delicious'! This is another layered chocolate with a Dorset-made rhubarb jam perched on top of a vanilla-infused fresh Dorset cream & white chocolate ganache blended with rhubarb - tangy, sweet with warm notes from the vanilla. Happy Days.
Last but definitely not least is another new kid on the block, Tangerine Dream. We launched this chocolate last autumn ahead of Christmas and it has gone down a storm with our customers. Being made with our signature single estate 72% Ecuador dark chocolate and pure coconut oil to create a soft eat, it has both very clean flavours and is also vegan-friendly. We add a touch of pure orange oil to this chocolate and layer it with a tangerine jelly for a cooling spike of citrus flavour on the first bite. This chocolate will be available in a box of 9 on its own very soon too.
