Our Dinosaur egg wins Best Kids Blowout egg in the Woman & Home Taste Test

Oh hello Woman & Home magazine! We were chuffed to bits to see that our studded Dinosaur Easter egg won their blowout egg for children in their Easter taste test of 'The best Easter eggs'. You will find all the results in the April edition of the magazine. This is what they had to say about our egg:

"This egg looks magical, with its beautiful marbling. However, we're certain that wont stop the dinosaur enthusiast in your life from smashing it open to reveal the hidden dinosaur and ammonites embedded inside!"

Yes our chocolate Easter eggs are a bit different to most as we make them in two halves, so, before we stick them together and whilst the chocolate is still liquid, we stud the inside of each egg half with mini solid chocolate dinosaurs and ammonites. Our Dorset Dinosaur Easter egg is handcrafted of our 45% Venezuela origin milk chocolate with a marbled white & dark chocolate shell.

The ammonites and dinosaurs inside are made of our Colombia origin white chocolate and our Ecuador origin 72% dark chocolate. All our chocolate is made with sustainable cocoa and contains less sugar than most other similar types of chocolate. For example, our milk chocolate contains 45% cocoa which is a lot more than most milk chocolate and as a result it contains less sugar. it is a pretty straight swap, the more cocoa, the less sugar!

Why do we make dinosaur Easter eggs? Well if you didnt know, Chococo was set up back in 2002 by Claire & Andy Burnet in Swanage, a small seaside town on Dorset's World Heritage Jurassic Coast, so we are very proud of our ancient county and its fossils. Our dinosaur egg is our homage to Dorset and we have been making them for many years now. Our Dinosaur Easter eggs are our most popular egg too, so there are a lot of fossil fans out there!

Not only do we craft all our chocolate Easter eggs by hand, but we also wrap them by hand too - each one is carefully wrapped in recyclable food-safe tissue before being nestled inside a recyclable kraft box. All our packaging is 100% plastic-free, so no plastic packaging with our Easter eggs, or any of our handcrafted chocolate gifts for that matter!
