September's chocolate of the month...Black Forest Gateau
As you know, we love to make limited edition seasonal chocolates and other chocolate-inspired creations and so we are delighted to announce the launch of Black Forest Gateau, a stunning new chocolate, created by Tim our new flavours king, as September's chocolate of the month.
This gorgeous domed chocolate with its Ecuador origin single estate dark chocolate shell, and decoration hand-painted by Jacqui in natural colours, reveals not just 2 layers, but 3 layers inside! This is in fact, our first tripled layered chocolate.
On the top is a tangy sour cherry jam made for us by Susan of the Alweston Jam & Chutney Empire in North Dorset, then in the middle is a creamy white chocolate layer before the rich boozy Ecuador origin dark chocolate bottom layer. We have inflused liberal amounts of kirsch, which is the classic cherry brandy used by patisserie chefs to make a classic black forest gateau, and we think it makes for a rather splendid flavour reminiscent of the cake. The only thing that is missing is any sponge, so this chocolate is gluten-free!
By the way, each layer is piped into each chocolate dome by hand by Tim & Emma here in our Dorset chocolate kitchen - no automatic machines depositing fillings here at Chococo. When we say our chocolates are handcrafted, we mean it.
This chocolate is available to buy in a single box of 9 Black Forest Gateau chocolates, is also in our Autumn Collection boxes & will be in our ongoing fresh Chococo large selection boxes too.
It is also available to buy from all our Chocolate Houses as one of the chocolates on display in our cabinets, so if you visit one of our 4 chocolate houses in Swanage, Winchester, Exeter or Horsham, you can choose as many or as few of these fabulous new friends as you like!
