As part of our ongoing initiative to reduce our usage of single use plastic, we are delighted to announce that our new Christmas trees are all packaged in rigid boxes that are actually made from 70% recycled plastic material & are recyclable again.
We feel that this is a step in the right direction wrt reducing our usage of virgin plastic & from now on, we will be moving other items presented in rigid plastic into this recycled material. Recently, we also moved pretty much all our cello bags for smaller items across to bags made of sustainable woodpulp that is fully compostable. The bags look like plastic but arent!  So, amongst other things, if you order lollies, mini bars or robots this Christmas, they will be in compostable packaging!

We are also looking into a cornstarch based film to replace cello roll which we wrap our edible boxes & Easter eggs in for 2019 and we keep our eyes peeled constantly for alternatives to plastic.

So far, some of our other initiatives to reduce our usage of plastic also include switching to paper straws & wooden spoons for takeaway ice creams in our cafes and offering discounts to any customer who brings in a reusable cup for a takeaway hot drink.
Further, we have always only ever offered paper carrier bags & the inserts to hold our chocolates in place in our boxes, have always only ever been cardboard. This was the case when we launched back in 2002 & will always be the case - never any plastic vac forms to display our chocolates when you lift the lid of one of our selection boxes!
