For 2017 we have launched our new Single origin Madagascan 85% "MegaDark" chocolate egg in this stunning new diamond-faceted Easter egg mould.
Made with freshly dried single origin grand cru cocoa beans grown in the Sambriano region in the north west of Madagascar, this 85% "MegaDark" will change how you think about high cocoa solids dark chocolate.
It is a very dark chocolate with 85% cocoa solids (therefore only 15% sugar), so is the perfect gift choice for someone who enjoys an intense chocolate taste experience. Some very high cocoa solids dark chocolate can be almost too intense on the palate, but this 85% "MegaDark" has wonderful red berry fruit notes with a hint of honey, a long soft finish and a soft "eat".
Not only is this single origin chocolate special in terms of the flavours, it is a RAISETRADE product in that it is produced in its country of origin, Madagascar from tree to bar for us to work with. Producing finished products with the value added in country, rather than just exporting raw commodites, adds significantly more value to the local Malagsy economy than the traditional business model in which we in the West add the value.
We are very proud to work with Chocolaterie Robert, based in the capital Antananarivo, who produce this chocolate. It only arrived into the UK in January this year and we are one of the first UK chocolatiers to work with it.
This egg is also a naturally dairy-free product so is suitable for anyone intolerant to dairy & vegans. However, we want you to know that we do make all our chocolates in our kitchen in Dorset, so we cannot guarantee that it will be 100% free of any traces of dairy.
This egg is also soya-free.
Size: The egg sits snugly in its box which measures 15cm tall - we dont believe in excess packaging, so the box is not huge vs the size of the egg inside, but you are getting a lot of chocolate for your egg!
