Our direct trade 72% Ecuador signature dark chocolate is exclusive to Chococo and is made for us at origin by Martinetti Cocoa in Ecuador from heritage arriba beans sourced from a single estate, Hacienda Zoilita, in the Los Rios province.
Martinetti Cocoa is a small family-owned chocolate company based in Quevedo in the heart of the cocoa-growing region of Ecuador. They have been in business for 50 years and have strong relationships with local cocoa farmers, buying their beans direct from their farms. Our 72% chocolate is made with beans bought from just one farm - Hacienda Zoilita which is a professionally run family farm of 200 hectares. This Direct Trade chocolate is made of fine single origin Arriba cocoa beans grown in the fertile, tropical climate of the Los Rios province, where Martinetti is based. This chocolate adds value to the local economy as it is produced from tree to chocolate by Martinetti in its country of origin, is put in strong paper sacks and shipped by sea for us to then work with - no middlemen at any point in our supply chain!
This chocolate has wonderful mellow fruit notes with a soft finish and is both naturally vegan-friendly and soya-free.
Each bauble is hand-decorated with splashes of naturally coloured cocoa butter and is approx 10cm tall and weighs 150g.
The bauble is nestled in food safe tissue inside a printed cardboard box so is in 100% plastic-free packaging.
Ingredients: (92%) Ecuador dark chocolate: 72% (min) cocoa solids (cocoa mass, sugar, cocoa butter, sunflower lecithin), (7.9%) coconut oil, (<1%) orange oil, decorative finish: cocoa butter, iron oxides.
